What a jolly bunch of elves! 3,275 taxpayers certainly weren't "scrooging" around when it came to filing their tax returns on Christmas Day. It looks like they were feeling the Christmas spirit and wanted to make sure they got their taxes taken care of in time to enjoy the holiday break.
A whopping 22,060 taxpayers logged on to submit their self assessment for the 2021-2022 tax year between December 24th and 26th, and a remarkable 141 even decided to wrap up their tax return in the final hour of Christmas Eve - a feat worthy of an extra mince pie.
On Christmas Eve, 8,474 tax returns were filed, with a peak of 888 at 11 o'clock. On Christmas Day, 3,275 returns were sent in, with a peak of 319 at the stroke of noon! And finally, on Boxing Day, 10,311 returns were sent in, with 953 arriving at noon.

Ho-ho-hold onto your hats though, you still have time to get your tax return sorted as the deadline is January 31st 2023. HMRC is reminding everyone that if they don't submit their return on time, they may have to face a penalty. So, don't be a Grinch - get your tax return done in time even though Santa has already come down the chimney.
