I have just noticed on your website of the 2013/2014 tax year it does not take into account the age related allowances.

Sarah Coe - 14/08/2013 10:53:00

Personal allowances should automatically calculate depending upon age, sex and income – unless a tax code has been entered, in which case the allowance is overridden by the code. For the 2013/2014 tax year, age related personal tax allowances have changed. They are now date of birth based, so are only applicable in the following circumstances: People born after 5 April 1948 all receive the basic personal allowance of £9,440 People born after 5 April 1938 but before 6 April 1948 receive £10,500 People born before 6 April 1938 receive £10,660 In additional, the age related allowances are subject to tapering after an income limit of £26,100. If the person receiving the age related allowance earns above £26,100, their allowance is reduced by £1 for every £2 above the limit until the allowance matches the £9,440 basic allowance – unless income is over £100,000 in which case, the allowance can be reduced to zero. On the income tax calculator or salary calculator you can select the Self Employed / CIS option. Alternatively, you can use the Multiple Income or UK Tax Wizard to enter your income details.

53261 pays 2,207.56 NIC, less than 51511 which pays 4,244.86 NIC. Please fix!

Jarrad - 09/06/2013 14:53:24

For the 53,261 calculation you have used NIC Letter B, but for the 51,511 calculation you have used NIC Letter A. The national insurance contribution on Letter B should be less than A.
