the government say that all tax allowance will go up by 1000 but over 65 only 500 why

I'm not sure about the quoted £1,000 increases being across all age bands, but the rates and allowances are the official figures as published by the Treasury and HMRC.

I do not pay NHI so just deduct from net total?

Jackie, by NHI do you mean National Insurance Contributions? If so, please tick the 'No NIC' box when entering your details. If you are using the wizard, it will detect from your date of birth whether you should pay NIC's or you can enter your income into the NIC Exempt Income box. Hope that helps.
